Stewart Lee commented on UKIP and immigration in his programme last Saturday.

Right back to the first 'fish' that had the temerity to crawl out of the water on to 'our' land.

Everyone seems to forget that the indigenous population (how long is it before anyone is indigenous or is there none remaining?) has been equally persecuted by its leaders, most of whom were/are immigrants, for centuries.

Lets chuck out the Normans and get back our country.

You're right. I think the Normans were the last invaders to take over our country. Perhaps the latest influx will do the same!

Just reading some of the posts concerning "positive discrimination" and the first thing that came to my mind was the MOBO Awards. No one bats an eyelid at this annual event.. I dare bet if someone came up with the MOWO Awards, there would be bloody uproar. ;) ;) ;)

Considering Jessie J won a handful of MOBO awards perhaps they are indulging in a spot of positive discrimination :D

Wigger rhymes with and is a derivative and play on the word ******.

For those who don't know, it means a white ******.

OK. Just testing what's censored.

Yours sincerely

Presses preview...... Hmmm. Interesting.

There's a ch1nk in this armour.

So some racism and discrimination is okay.

FFS, don't you dopey plonkers do a bit of research before you post your short-sighted comments.
If that's the best you can do, you ought to get out more.

The MOBO Awards are awards in "Music of Black Origin", established in 1996 by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell. It is held annually in the United Kingdom to recognise artists of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music.

Do your research.

I took Jock to mean Music Of White Origin doesn't exist and if someone suggested it, it would be frowned upon.

If so, if I understood Jock, I agree with him. I take it you don't and that's your prerogative.

To me, you're towing the PC line. I like to tell and hear things as they are, as we see them really happening, in the real world.

That's exactly what I meant Big Tone... Seems to be lost on some here though. MOWO (probably thought it was Music Of Welsh Origin)

They didn't have first-past-the-post voting back then.

Probably a good job 'we' retained it.

Does "Music of White Origin" exist? If so put a label to this genre of "Music of White Origin".

If you can, explain how that can be racist?

Defining or classifying a genre of music is not and cannot be racist.
It's like saying the labelling of a type of dance, such as Irish dancing, or the classification of African art is racist!
The definition of an object, a language, an art, according to its cultural history cannot be racist.
jock's comment is fundamental bullshit. (but why am I not surpised?  )
I suggest again that you spend a little more time on research before posting dopey comments. There's plenty of discussion already out there, with all the explanations you could possibly need.

Is this where you got the idea from:
Are the MOBO awards racist?

You would never have a ‘Music of White Origin’ award ceremony as it would be deemed racist but because the MOBOs apply to black artists there is a double standard at work. We don’t need these sort of divisions in modern-day Britain.

By and large, we are a tolerant and unified nation. There is the odd racist out there and the odd isolated incident that everyone roundly condemns. So why are people still trying to put up barriers? The MOBOs actively excludes white artists and that is, quite simply, discriminatory.

Incorrect on several levels, BTW.

Methinks there is some desparate backpedalling going on.
Oh yes, of course, you've been doing that all along.

Strange, how the discussion has veered away from the OP's mention of the sparsity of comment, following the revelations of the Met's action in regard to the Lawrence case, especially in comparison to the previous response, to claiming that the definition of black music is some kind of positive discrimination.

You've been all round the wrekin, even trying to water down your biases by suggesting that it was the level of population of the UK that you were really concerned with. Now you're trying to muddy the waters with fallacious discussions and inaccurate accusations about positive discrimination.

There is also the 'black police federation', is there a whitene?

Andy
No. Just like there's no such thing as white pride. In an attempt to make the world a fairer place it has discriminated against what I would call our own. (Which includes black).

I have seen countless people, who I have visited in my job, that have been brought up all their long lives in areas of Birmingham which are now completely out of recognition to the country they fought for.

Is that respectful to them? Has anyone given consideration to the neighbourhood they once knew? Were they asked whether they wanted to be integrated and become a tiny minority in an area they once played in as a kid but is now out of all recognition?

I have seen this first hand many times. These areas are NOT dangerous or anything and the culture and diverse foods are incredible. But the question of respect is a one way street to these dear old folk, and woe betide anyone for saying it!

And, as we all know, once 'something' has been introduced it's infinitely harder to retract or repeal if there are ramifications further down the line you have not considered in your quest to look equal, when in fact the discrimination and lack of respect has simply shifted elsewhere.
