Me and the wife decided it was time to update our bathroom and we have choosen everything that we would like to put into it ie.
Duravit Starck 3 wall hung toilet + frame
Clearwater standalone bath
Wash bowl on a stand.
Hudson reid floor taps for the bath and hudson reid tec pura 14 for the shower.

We want the combi boiler moved from out of the bathroom to downstairs in the kitchen so we got a plumber to give us an estimate. He said £1000 + vat which i was kind of expecting but then proceeded to rip appart the stuff that we was going to order so now i'm confused.
Is there any problem with hudson reid taps? inparticular would the shower pack we wanted be suitable for a combi boiler (worcestor cd24i)?
He said that wall hung toilets are a bad idea...why?

I don't doubt his knowledge and i took everything in that he said but couldn't help but feel there was a motive for him not recommending our chosen fitments.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Mike

Don't know anything about bathrooms etc, but there should be no problems with the Worcester with any modern thermostatic shower that is suitable for a balanced hot/cold supply.

Check to see if he is CORGI registered. Get his number and check it with CORGi to see if it tallies.

Most people who are CORGI specialise in heating and not bathrooms as well.

Thanks for the replys.
We do have another plumber comming around tonight to give us another quote on the boiler move so will be interesting to see how much he quotes. Would you guess that £1000 is an expected price for a boiler move as it is going directly beneath the floor it is currently on?

I would have thought it is a bit over the top. I would have thought about £600 max if it as simple as you state with the new position.

I just did a bathroom - very relaxing it was too - I quite enjoyed it, first one I've done in about 3 years.

I do bathrooms too if its fairy simple and not too much hassle, makes a change to do something other than gas and oil but I do pick my jobs.

Yes, but neither of you could be described as "specialising" in bathrooms. I even fitted a Wickes suite for my house in the Midlands a few months ago.

However, this is not a "bathroom" as we know it but a top of the range specialist list with wall hung WCs and presumably a cost of over £1000 compared with my £199 Wickes white suite.

I agree about £600 to move boiler but perhaps he added a bit to match the expensive bathroom you have chosen.

The only thing that wrong with plan is the price, ok I can't see the job, but in my opinion it's way under valued, £1500-2000

Quality takes time, and the kit you want requires lots of working with other trades, e.g. tilers etc
