    2 gang shock / PiR

Just to finish the story.... I purchased a MK two gang switch to replace the existing Voltex. Upon closer inspection the Voltex switch which caused a shock was wobbling and clearly broken internally, which is highly likely the cause. For avoidance of doubt, I double checked the continuity of...

    2 gang shock / PiR

Good suggestions JBR, the earth is connected to the back box via a terminal in the corner, I will double check the wires entering the box and perform some continuity tests when I get a chance (currently the switch is taped over so no-one touches it).

    2 gang shock / PiR

I'm not aware of any LEGAL requirement to perform any specific tests during production for LVD products? I know of lots of options as most brands have their own set of QA procedures and product sampling tests (ISO or otherwise), some are great, others are, well, lets say designed to speed up...

    2 gang shock / PiR

What production control tests the products to the same level as the lab tests? I've seen millions of products across 1000's of SKUs produced (covered by LVD) for major global manufacturers and there was no "production control" which tested anywhere near like a lab test !? - Has something new...

    2 gang shock / PiR

Thanks for all the replies.... I think it might be simpler to just replace the switch with another similar product. The shock could well have been static as suggested above but I don't want to take the risk for the £2 price of a new switch from Screwfix. I will also double check the earthing...

    2 gang shock / PiR

Looking on this government site, it states "plugs and socket outlets for domestic use" are excluded from the LVD and the "CE mark is not a quality mark, nor a guarantee that the product meets all of the requirements of relevant EU product safety law" - Out of interest, is there another directive...

    2 gang shock / PiR

I am 100% certain that I did not touch the recessed screws, I suspected that moisture was involved on the switch itself!? What else could have caused me to receive a shock?

    2 gang shock / PiR

Price /= quality! however I am more than happy to purchase alternative switches if someone can show me where to get them? Looking at the pic, the back box looks to be insulated from the switches and the screws are seperate, what makes you think the back box became live and how would it cause a...

    2 gang shock / PiR

I agree there is no CE mark but that doesn't automatically mean they are unsafe (most electronic goods are built in the Far East today) However, if someone could point me to a similar PIR product which directly replaces a switch and is CE marked, I would happily throw these away and purchase...

    2 gang shock / PiR

@Iggifer I have had a very similar PIR installed in the kitchen which has worked flawlessly for the past two years. They directly replace a standard switch and do not need a neutral. However, if I could find some higher quality UK products, I would swap it from atheistic POV. Know where I could...

    2 gang shock / PiR

Hi All, We have a 2 gang switch in a downstairs toilet, one switch operates a fan, the other a light. Over the weekend I received a shock from the switch, I removed the cover the following day to check for damp (it was okay) - below is the wiring for reference. SWMBO asked if we could...

Unvented / Vented / Combi warmfront boiler replacement

Thanks for the info! I discussed the Vaillant controls with the WF assessor who suggested I discuss/asked the installer to fit them in place of the Honeywell ones when they visit prior to commencing the work. However, if I purchase and install the Vaillant controls prior to the new boiler...
