Right, stupid question time. I'm struggling to get an adjustable spanner in to the nut, because it's slightly recessed, so I went to buy the right size spanner. The nut is 30mm wide, so I bought a 30mm spanner. However it's too big. What size spanner is needed for a nut that's 30mm across?

The tube doesn't rotate, but I like the idea of just using some wire to get to a lower hole. Looping through a lower hole would be easy. Connecting to the green 'hook' might be trickier, it's hard to explain but a wire would just slip off. I'll have a think about what might clip onto the hook!

It was some sort of pre-shaped tray, made of some sort of blue material (the same as waterproof boarding used for the walls), that was put in place of the floorboards and then tiled over. The builder has suggested coming up from underneath & re-inforcing it to stop it flexing, so we'll see what...
