    Kitchen 2x radials or ring?

The kitchen has a galley layout and our new gas hob and oven only need a 13a supply. I'm wondering if I should run both sides of the kitchen on 2 radial circuits on 2 20A rcd protected mcbs at cu rather than a 32a ring Is there any issues with this? Left side has: under counter freezer...

    Ext Central heating Bond?

Thanks for the reply. It's insulated and sleeved so no ground contact.

    Ext Central heating Bond?

Our central heating boiler is on the back wall of the house. The pipework enters the house in 2 places. Just below ground level and under the floor to rads and underfloor on the 1st floor to HW storage tank. As the pipework is coming in from outside does it have to be bonded back to the MET...

    Lighting ccts and JB's

I ran all wiring for 10 light fittings in a large room back to a single point (on the ceiling joist above the switch location) as I couldn't decide how to split them and thought it would give more flexibility if something changed. I have the lighting cct going in and out of a 20A 4W JB and...

    Service socket at CU

Are there any issues with putting a 'service' socket tight against the side of the CU and wiring it through a cutout in the side of the CU? All my cct cables will be going in the bottom of the CU hidden in trunking and I didn't want to have to clip a bit of T&E to the board. I'm fussy like...

    Basic regs for socket locations?

I want to put a single socket in some framing that will end up about 60-70mm from an external corner and wondered what if any regs there were concerning location? It's not an ideal solution but just a difficult location. (Old victorian single brick partition wall. If I try to chop out a brick...

    Taking it outside

Funny you should say that... Cause I was going to. I wanted something low cost with a switch that was more durable than a socket and surface box as I often have wet hands when messing with the pond. I will cut an x in the rubber cover so the lid can stay down and the switch stays covered...

    Taking it outside

Thanks fellas. I dropped the switch and just went for 2 single switched sockets that are ip55 (Not cheap just s*** :) ) http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SPSP15.html They will be housed inside the cupboard so they should be fine.

    Taking it outside

I could use some advice and experience regarding supplying power to an Ext socket and power for a pond pump. I have a switch fuse spur (fed w 2.5 t&e either on DS ring or on own cct undecided) to supply power to an outside cupboard fitted directly to the back of the house. I've managed...

WYLEX 10-Way Insulated High Integrity CU

Who knows but you can bet it will be soon! Ordered the Wylex from TLC yesterday afternoon. (Thanks for the WF tip.) Was delivered at 8.15am this morning! They did forget a length of mini trunking though

    Parquet value

Hmmm great  I've dumped about 50M of the stuff! Put down in the early 70's so probably not worth anything. Can't be worth much as what could you do with all those little bits? Can you post back if you get anything for it. I have some good squares left

WYLEX 10-Way Insulated High Integrity CU

Thanks for showing me yours. I'll show you mine soon :D I only really need 8 ways but would have needed an extra 32A MCB and would have had a few (useless) spares. TLC saves about £15 (Or £35 if I ditch a RCBO for an MCB) and they're not too far from me Thanks.

    Shower pump supply

Thanks for the cable calc. I'm guessing the pump is 230W/1A as there is only 230/1/50 on the box. It's only a 1.4 bar. I'll double check next time I have the bath panel off (It's under the bath in zone 0). The immersion isn't used at the moment as the CH is on for a couple of hours a day...

    Shower pump supply

It is in 2.5 and will be on a 16A MCB. Only said poor as its 'recommended' it has it's own fixed supply :) I knew the cable could handle the load but wasn't aware of the recomendation when I wired it. I also didn't allow for derating from insulation. Can someone please tell me what the...

WYLEX 10-Way Insulated High Integrity CU

Any opinions on this? Seems like a decent deal. http://www.screwfix.com/prods/80819/Electrical-Supplies/Consumer-Units/Wylex-Consumer-Units/WYLEX-10-Way-Fully-Insulated-High-Integrity-Consumer-Unit;jsessionid=1IHAPLSDWSLOMCSTHZOCFEY?ts=44947 Thanks

Boiler and immersion on same MCB?

Just took a look at the label on the immersion and it's rated 2.8KW at 230v / 3KW at 240v, which is 12.17A / 12.5A. Still just under 13A :) But I still don't know if the 20A DP switch is a requirement? Thanks.

    Shower pump supply

Thanks. So 60% free space in conduit to allow ventilation for cables. I think that means I'll have to use either the D/S ring, U/S lighting or just leave it on the immersion feed which is where it's supplied from at the moment (Poor descision). None of which I like the sound of. Any...
