Second Consumer Unit / Garden power advice needed

Thanks for the replies! The reason I’ve asked these questions, is because I want to understand this system more than anything. Me ordering the parts in advance is a bit pointless which is fair enough.... I will be letting the Spark order the parts then. The cable has been run in accordance to...

Second Consumer Unit / Garden power advice needed

Hi all, I’ve built myself a garden room and am currently after some advice regarding electrical work that needs to be carried out. I‘ve run the cables, and a sparky will be connecting everything. I’ve run a 35m length of 10MM SWA 3 Core from the house CU to the garden room. My House Consumer...

WBP Plywood delamination after minimal water?

hahaha !!!! I've only got 1 photo at the moment, which you can see in my albums as I've just uploaded it. This shows an edge of one bit of ply. You can see its not quite correct. The 'bump' where you can see that join is about 3-4mm outwards and is enough to cause the whole sheet to be warped...

WBP Plywood delamination after minimal water?

Invoice definitely states WBP. How can I tell if its not WBP? The problem seems to be worse on the parts where the 'join' is. It seems to have lost a section and....well expanded? The front and back wood veneer has also creased in some parts with the moisture.

WBP Plywood delamination after minimal water?

I have 11 sheets of WBP plywood and the edges have soaked up some water and started to bubble/delaminate. I purchased them for a roof deck, and am very concerned that going onto a roof they will get worse. Is it because the edges need sealing? I've had the sheets for about 3 weeks, I was under...

Log cabin (big shed) - warm roof advice please!

Hi...I've put up my big shed now and it has tongue and groove board as the roof. I'm a bit confused about the best way to do the roof - I believe as its a cabin I can go with the 'warm roof' approach. Am I correct in saying this would be (From inside out) : Layer 1: Tongue and Groove cabin...

Which Plate compactor for type 1?

Hey. I'm not too fussed if it makes the job longer (as I will have to keep going over it!), as I only have a couple of garden jobs for it. Are you saying it will probably be ok for light use, I.e 50mm at a time then?

Hardcore for Sub base - what to do with Brick / Gravel

I'm building a summerhouse, roughly 5.5m x 5.2m. I've been told this will need 100/150mm Sub base, with 100/150mm concrete on top. This will be in the form of a slab. I'm planning on getting the concrete pumped in, as I'm about 50meters away from where the concrete truck will be. I have...

Brick Shed damp coming through walls - advice please

Hi Freddy, I've looked at their website (http://www.safeguardeurope.com/products/product_menu.php) But unsure as to which one would be the correct one! I like the idea of applying an internal render.

Brick Shed damp coming through walls - advice please

The area of wall which gets wet is probably about 5square metres. In regards to money, i dont mind what it costs but don't want to spend like 2/3k at it (I'm happy for cheap and cheerful solutions that don't look great!) The total area is quite small (maybe 1.5M Wide, and 3Meters long) so its...

Brick Shed damp coming through walls - advice please

My shed is made of breeze block and concrete render inside and out. Half of the shed is below ground level, and in winter soaks up the water from outside which is quite bad! The walls inside get very wet. I'm unable to dig out ground around it to do any work on the outside due to its location...

Grooved old /new decking - paint (&removal) queries!

My question comes in two parts: I'm currently installing new decking in an area of 18sqm. I already have existing decking which I'm extending! This existing decking is in decent condition bar the green paint peeling off. I've pressure washed the deck and removed about 50% of the paint, alot of...

    Decking - Need advice please

Hey, do you mean 9 Joists to act as Bearers on top of the posts? Then 15 more Joists on top of the bearers spaced out @ 40MM. If that is so, could I have the Joists at the bearer level to cut down on cost ? If not, could I use 150mm x 47mm as Bearers, then what minimum size Joists could I use...

    Decking - Need advice please

I'm planning on installing some decking in an area of 6m by 3m. Going to use Joists 150mm x 47mm which are 3M long to run every 40MM. Going to use 100mm x 100mm posts for footings. How many should I use?
