See photo. Looks like 6 inches. I’ve been to three merchants this morning - never seen one like it but I did find very similar online but the spindle is much longer. Someone suggested Workwin??

I try to avoid plumbing jobs. Is it likely that the existing bar is soldered on or a screw on? If the former then that’ll mean getting a plumber. I only ask because I don’t want to make things worse by disturbing the current bar.

I see what you mean. The blue colour - but I haven’t found a match on the internet. In your experience is it possible that I could find a workable alternative? I don’t want to replace the entire bar.

    Wire panel heater

I'm happy to fix it to the wall properly But I don't want to wire it into the fused socket until I've given it a run. That sounds ok? Thanks

    Wire panel heater

I've just bought a 1.5kw panel heater. I want to test it before hard wiring as it means moving a lot of stuff around. Can I run it for an hour or two thru a 13a plug? The instructions say don't do it but I can't see what the problem is.

    Tool question

My shower/bath mixer tap is playing up. I can move the collar up and down enough to see the flat bit where presumably I can unscrew it but none of my spanners or wrenches are thin enough to get into the grooves. What sort of wrench or grippers are going to do it?

    Shower/bath mixer tap problem

I can feel the flats when pushing the collar down. Have I got to turn off the water before taking off the top? Pic attached

    Shower/bath mixer tap problem

I've just moved into a property and discovered that the mixer tap will only feed the shower and not the bath. The mechanism appears to be a chrime collar that I presume moves up and down to select either bath or shower. Are these things straightforward, i.e. what could the problem be and hiw to...

    German wiring

SuperSparks I am well aware of the worst that can happen - but would it not be obvious when I turned the power on and the the light didn't "work". Obviously I wouldn't touch the thing before cutting the power again. What I meant was what would happen if I attached the supply neutral to the...

    German wiring

My Mrs recently bought a modern chandelier from Amazon. It turns out to be German (I think). The problem is that when I shortened the supply lead all three wires are encased in a clear plastic. The original terminated in properly identified blocks but it's impossible to tell which was which...

    Extending spur in kitchen

Thanks John In fact I'm not even sure if the work needs certifying now. I think that installing a spur can be done by a diy'er as long as it meets the BS. Whilst I did not install a spur as such nor did I break the rule and spur to a spur. i merely extended existing cable. My only concern is...

    Extending spur in kitchen

Now I understand. Under the April 2013 changes a kitchen is no longer a special location. Thankyou.
