I was adding the details from my point of view - not implying that I didn't appreciate your answer.

Shed supply - quick sanity check

Bit more detail required. From CU using 4mm T+E to suitable plastic box on outside of existing garage wall. Terminate to 4mm (SWA or Hituf - that's the question), running 50m to shed where it will be terminated in the same method as mentioned to the dedicated shed CU, running 1 light and 2/3...

Shed supply - quick sanity check

Hello all. I'm running a supply to a shed direct from the CU. I'm unsure on either 4mm SWA or Hituff (not keen on the stuff). Shed is 40m away from the house and it will be for just lighting and maybe a hand drill/ lawn mower. (subject to local RCD etc). To err on the side of caution...

    Help! Spare parts

Sorry, I forgot to mention that bit. They have "BREV" marked on them but that didn't seem to help the local guys.......... Is there another trading name?

    SWA and earthing

¿Que? Ok, bear with me I might be getting myself in a knot here but: If the 3rd core is linked to the earth bar as a cpc (ie: low resistance) and then the braid is also connected between the earth bars - but over time the braid becomes a corroded connection (ie: higher resistance) doesn't...

    SWA and earthing

Thanks. What about eathing the SWA braid or the 3rd core in the cable? Is there a need to use the braid aswell as using the 3rd core? I would have thought this could cause earthing impedance issues?

    SWA and earthing

Why do people (customers) buy the bits and not complete the job? Two questions: How to terminate 3 core 4mm SWA for a garage supply in to a domestic C.U.? (I was going to terminate the SWA in a 3x3 box with gland and then run 4mm T+E to the CU) Y/N? Should the braid on SWA be earthed...

    Am I being a numpty??!!

Sorry all I'm having a moment.... I'm fitting a MK light switch that has a neon indicator in it but I want the neon to come on when the switch is off (as a switch locator in the dark). As there is no neutral feed in the switch, if the neon is across live in and SW live out will it be on...

    Kitchen Help

I have my 16th but haven’t completed Part P yet so I’m after some advice as this will need Part P-ing when it’s complete: Kitchen supply is to be completely re-fitted to include the new conservatory. Wall in question is currently the rear (external and arrowed) wall of the house. Electrical...

Career change....??? You're putting me off

I've been thinking of a career change for a while now, always done bits and pieces for friends - worked part-time with a family friend for 3 years before ill health got him. Managed to get my 16th (Jan '06) and thinking of Part P etc but all the posts I'm reading are putting me right off...

    Lighting circuits

RF Lighting: Instead of intermediate switches, couldn't you use the 3 wire, 2 way switching example and just add more switches wired with 3 core?

    Lighting circuits

I've looked at the pictures for intermediate but what does it actually do? (A description in word form would really help) Including outside lighting there's currently 6 fittings on the downstairs circuit (the lounge has 3 lamps in 1 fitting). I suggested moving the 14 down lights and...
