    thermostatic shower problem

I have had a new shower fitted by a local firm and the temperature control is all over the place. It goes from lukewarm to scalding and then there is no change until the temperature control knob is turned almost 90 deg at which point it goes freezing. Also if you do manage to get an...

    Which Fernox product

I have just replaced all of my old "stainless steel" downtstairs pipework with copper, I have also replaced 4 (out of nine) radiators. I had a look on this forum to gaet some ideas on flushing out the sytem and I opted for Fernox Concentrated Restorer. I left this circulating on normal...

Is it okay to use 10mm pipe upstairs and 15mm downstairs?

I have replaced all my dowstairs pipework using 22 and 15mm copper. I now want to replace upstairs, but it would be much easier to use microbore. Is it ok to have two different sizes of pipe in my heating system? Cheers for any advice.

    Replacement Radiators.

I am about to replace all my rads/pipework. I have a Baxi 105e combi with a total of nine rads (four down stairs and five upstairs). I intend to use 22mm copper for the manifolds but am unsure whether to run 15mm copper or microbore to the rads. Also I will be using a room stat for...

Could it be condensation? I sometimes get that from the cistern but I must admit not from the actual lav.

    Potterton/Ideal

The quote was £1670 for removing the two old boilers and fitting the new Isar 30 HE. I must admit I do like the look of the boiler spec. Does this seem like a reasonable price?

    Ideal Isar 30HE.

    Potterton/Ideal

Cheers for your replies, the reason I asked was that I was given two quotes and the Ideal was a fair bit dearer but was also a condensing boiler whereas the Potterton was a standard combi. I would imagine that the Ideal would have a lower running cost but a higher maintenance cost.

Are Potterton combis any good or is it worth paying more and getting an Ideal? :?:

    Combi/shower

I am having a new combi boiler fitted possibly an 30kw ideal and am considering feeding the shower from it. Is it just a case of plumbing the hot and cold into some kind of mixer valve ?

    Alpha combi whine

The boiler is an Alpha CB28 combi. The system pressure is ok. It is approximately three years old and has been making this noise for quite some time  . There is no problem getting hot water when the heating is off. When the heating is on and I turn on the hot tap I get lovely hot water...

    Alpha combi whine

When I turn off the hot tap, after running hot water, whilst the central heating is ON, I get a loud high pitched whine coming from the boiler. This can be stopped by turning the cold tap on and off. I suspect that the divertor valve may not be returning to its correct position once the hot...
