Thanks for your all your answers, I agree. I have always used single pole switched sockets, but I want to know where is it in the IEE 16th edition that says double pole sockets are to be used. The Electrician who is testing my rewire is stipulating that should use double pole switched sockets.

Please can someone tell me if 13amp sockets in a domestic ring main have to be single or double pole switched. Can't find info in the On Site Guide for 16th Edition. Thank you.

Just turned the boiler thermo to min turned the honeywell cylinder thermo up from 50 to 60 rush of water and the pump kicked in m/valve still latched on hook. Rads are getting warm again. Thanks still need to understand what I am doing and how the m/valve functions.

Thanks ChrisR did what u said and hey presto the rads got hot, they have now gone off, after about half an hour, turning the thermostat up does not fire up the boiler, It seems to click at about 14 although I have it at 20+ now as it is cold today. Both the HW and CH are on. I don't understand...
