Insulating pitched roof between rafters rather than joists.

You haven't specified what you're doing in the loftspace. If nothing, it would be more beneficial to insulate between the joists as that creates a barrier between the habitable space (i.e house) and the loft. This barrier precents heat rising into a loft where typically there is no use...

    Whirlpool Bath tripping RCD

Hi Guys, Recently I have had a new bathroom in which I have had a shower, extractor fan and (phoenix) whirlpool bath installed; The electrician connected them upto an independent RCD but as of late, the whirlpool is tripping the RCD. Any ideas why this may be? Admittedly, I haven't...

    Boiler clicking affecting electric help?

I wouldn't say it's dangerous as such, but can cause you more problems if not sorted- as in, it might take out a PCB on the boiler, or another electrical appliance- I'm not saying it definitely will, it might- I've had it at a customer's before. It might be a good idea to get it seen as soon as...

    Boiler clicking affecting electric help?

Stase9800, it seems to me that theres a problem with the neutral on the room thermostat; It might be a good idea to call our a heating engineer, or sparky.

    Slight leak

Don't mean to sound obnoxious, but as the saying goes, if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing properly! I'd recommend drain down, but as an alternative, apply some LS-X.. It is a bodge job, but I've used it in the past, (In a boiler, so it's not so evident!);It works a treat for me!

do bg operatives tell porky pies.

Having worked in the office, then as an engineer, I am pretty certain we don't decline contracts on certain makes; Theyre raised as a First Visit Inspection, then the engineer calls the shots!

Yup, if its a mixer tap, and all the other taps are fine, thats the problem. Cold Water's passing, hence water coming out lukewarm. Hope it helps

do bg operatives tell porky pies.

Despite me working as a technical eng for BGS, this I agree with; They seem to want their fingers in all the pies. Sometimes, I would think its better to walk away with your losses than accept a 24 year old boiler onto contract, but for the company, its just another £15-20 every month! That just...

do bg operatives tell porky pies.

I'm totally honest when I say I haven't read the entire post down to the letter. But with regards to a PFlush; if you had the system installed by BGS, then a PFlush would have been done at the same time. As a result, you have a lifetime guarantee under the terms of the contract for a free...

    Recessed Downlights

Hi All, Im a gas engineer,so not much experience in electrics, so forgive my ignorance! Getting a loft conversion done, planning on getting recessed downlights- Whats the difference between the high voltage and low voltage ones-I presume a transformer is required, but could an expert please...

Flueless gas fire making my wall go black!

Like someone said earlier, British Gas don't work on them full stop due to the safety concerns they have, and I'm saying it as I am a BG engineer. Have you got air vents? In my personal opinion, I would be very very concerned about the stains, DO NOT USE THE APPLIANCE- Also, a Carbon...

    Gas keeps going out

If you mean going out the way I think it to be, It's probably overheating- Possibly because min/max gas pressures are out of range, sensors faulty, pcb not responding to changes in resistances from sensors or blockage...I cant think of anything else, but it is 1.35 in the morning! Regards
