Hi I got the hump lasnight wouldnt do what I wanted it to and it was dark..... I have done part 1 of your suggestion and only 1 of the 4 lots of wires shows 236v. I am now moving on to the next bit...............

Well you've now established which is the live feed (and I hope marked it).

If you feel like having another go all you need to do is to identify the switch cable using a resistance or continuity setting (it will be one of the three cables that is not the live feed). You must have power off to do that or your meter will be damaged.
