Two earth wires - fitting new pendent light - help!

IT'S SINGLE CORES WIRES IN A CONDUIT SYSTEM.

It's perfectly normal to wire the earths like this.

If you were to loosen off fittings in other rooms there will be all sorts of wires criss crossing and looping everywhere.

With conduit it's also common to wire lights as '2 plate' as opposed to the more well known '3 plate'. In other words it's ok.

You could well be right, but I'd be interested to know how you can be confident enough to shout that assertion from the hilltops on the basis of just what we've seen and been told.

Kind Regards, John

(whispers) Looking at the photo, the rose is fitted using 2BA (I think) machine screws. Through the cable entry in the rose I can see what appears to be a knockout in what appears to be the BESA box. I'm fairly sure I can see a bit of a brass conduit bush where the wires emerge from the BESA box.
