1999 BMW 318 REAR SCREEN HEATER/DE MISTER

hello everyone
my rear screen demister has stopped working for about a month now. has anyone got any ideas as to what the problem might be.if i press the switch for it to come on , the orange light comes on indicating that the de mister is on. however the sreen will not heat up.

sounds like a relay may be playing up,can you hear a clicking when you press the button?

no i cant hear anything.i checked the fuse and it looks ok.is not burnt or anything. i assume that if the fuse was gone, i will clearly be burnt.

no,a fuse doesnt have to be burnt to have blown

If this model is a hatchback, look for a broken wire in the rubber grommet that carries the wiring from the roof to the tailgate.
