advice required on cooker element

Hi, i am wanting to fit a new element on my creda oven but cannot undo the screws. i have taken pictures next screws . please can someone advise if i need a special screw driver for them. they just won't move when i use a Phillips! any advice would be very much appreciated.

looks like an 8mm bolt head, a socket set with a ratchet and 8mm socket should be enough torque to crank these off, be careful not to snap the bolt head though mate.
