age,benefit or not

I think we all agree that NICEIC registration will not guarantee a decent job, but an awful lot of commercial customers will not employ an non approved contractor.

I certainly would not describe industrial installation work as easy. There is an awful lot more to it than there is with domestic work.

i think for now i will stick to domestic stuff and then maybe industrial in future but for my original question, napit or niceic and what does their assessment consist of and how much do they charge?

It's very much personal choice.

At a very young age Securespark was beaten around the head with an NICEIC T shirt so his advice would be the ECA. On the other hand the NIC has more members and it could be argued (like it or not) they are the industry benchmark.

The assessment is one to one and the assessor’s job is make sure you have the relevant industry knowledge, understanding of regs (that apply at the time), the correct documentation and test equipment. If the assessor is happy he will want to see a few of your jobs and he will probably ask you to verify some of the test results that are documented for that particular installation. Thats a very simplistic overview.

As for how much, have a look on their web sites that are very informative.
