Alarms - touch key fob- why bother?

What system can handle the alarm and gate or lighting control as you mention?

Thanks.
Any alarm system that has programmable outputs, I presume most of the 'higher end home/commercial' panels have programmable outputs, certainly the Texecom Premier Elite series do.

Its more a case of what home automation system you want to use and how you want to integrate as to which alarm panel best suites you.

Many use X10, but you need a connector from the panel to the x10.
Texecom Premier/Premier Elite can use anything that has creston protocol or x10(if you can get the adaptor) after that you would need an interface that takes outputs to activate the home automation except the Premier 24 (unlikely to buy the premier range now so shouldn't be an issue).

Unfortunately its not so straight forward, the x10 systems are limited to about 8 devices or 8 groups depending on how they are addressed I guess.

The Zwave and Lightwave would have to use some input board of some kind unless it can connect to the comport and use certain protocols.

People in the home automation forum on here may be able to shed more light on your options for the different alarm panels they have integrated.

say you use control 4 using the extra vegtables drivers, you can talk using the Crestron protol to the panel so in theory once connected you could program the system with a control 4 keypad, rather than a Texecom one and you could create short cut buttons or macros to complete certain things for you (not that the alarm would comply with regs) but again that only really comes into lay if its police response alarm system.

You could in theort use the 8 outputs on a veritas r8+/Excel to activate on Panic, set and unset of the alarm, alarm and confirmed alarm or fire etc these fixed unprogrammable outputs into an input to say turn the lights on when the intruder alarm is activated. You could wire into a key switch zone and use the home automation system to set and unset it rather than using the panels keypad.

but on the premier elite, you could do something similar with an output but you could make it only work Mon Fri 9-5 if a zone was activated rather than it being activated because the system is armed,

however if it is integrated using protocols you have greater control of what it can do.

Hope that hasn't made anything more difficult for you.
