Since a plumber drained down my system to install some TRVs I am having problems getting air out of the system ( open vented, Worcester green star boiler)
The pump is making a rattling noise and I would to bleed it. However it is an Altech pump and does not have a slotted screw. It has a nut in the centre with as black plastic cover. I assume that to bleed it I need to unscrew the nut? Are you meant to use the cover to grip this with or remove it and use a spanner?
Any advice much appreciated.
cheers

The Altech pump is very similar to the SMC/Myson/Circulating Pumps Ltd CP62 - the plastic hex should unscrew by hand, if tight use a pair of pliers to get it moving, but once bled you should be able to just do it up hand tight to effect a seal ;)

Thanks for your help Boilerman2.
I have unscrewed this quite a few turns but no water or air.
Do you have to remove the bolt completely?
Cheers
