As said before it looks like a bug. I bet the first part is dropping the voltage and making it dc, before passing it into the actual bug where the blue rf tuning coil is, the arial links and so does the mic.

Some of the hobby style ones transmit around 108MHz fm so if you get it running you may be able to pick it up on a small fm radio by scanning round the upper end of the band.

What does the occupier, or previous occupier do for a living?...

Looks like someone is keeping tabs on them.. :eek:
 
was it wired to a spy ring circuit?
or is it one of those spynal sub circuits
 
Can you ask your mate which room this came out of?

If it was a kitchen, i'm going to write to MI5 to advise them about Part P requirements.

I doubt they paid the LABC fees, dodgy gits. :D
