A friend asked what it was ("V90 Electrical Installation"), confident that I would know.

Am I behind the times (again ;) )?

I did do a quick Google search: it came up with some spec. to do with recessed lighting?

V90 is a section within the National Building Specification (NBS) for domestic installations as stated above.

Thanks guys. So it means nothing more than an electrical installation to domestic specification?

It's more for contractors to price as it outlines what type of install is required, manufacturer and products reference's for sockets, switches, light fittings, consumer units etc. also has installation guidance and relevant BS reference for each clause of the spec.

Most of the time in our specs we usually say contractors choice to architects approval.

I can get you a blank example if you would like to look at it further.
