Estate Agent ad just seen on Facebook.
Mentions modern twice.
Wall mounted gas fire.

Maybe we should have a "most stupid things estate agents say" competition each month.

As people think its fashionable & modern to have "retro" things, it could well be classed as modern.
Well we're about to go back to pre 1974, so 'retro' will indeed have to become 'modern'.

Great if you were a bloke.(y)

You never struck me as the selfish type, Hate.
Not just great for blokes, women were getting out more, one of them even got a job knocking the country into shape in the 70's. Glam rock, punk rock, new wave, disco, sound of Philly, what do we have now ? . Left school, discovered fags, discovered booze, discovered that it's not just for peeing, happy days.

Surely if it has a letterbox flue, it's not safe?

But, in the EA's favour there are some wall mounted gas appliances that are much more modern.

Ha,ha! In their ad on Rightmove, they describe the house as being in Briantree....;)

Our estate agent said ‘needs updating’ but actually meant ‘needs knocking down’.

The 70's, probably the best decade ever, bring it on.

Definitely. Growing up in the 70s was safe, fun and fascinating. Some of the best music, and tv has never been bettered (Steptoe And Son, Fawlty Towers, Two Ronnies, Morcambe And Wise, The Sweeney, etc, etc.). So good it's always repeated 45 years on. Law and order was still enforced, your granny was safe to leave her back door open, and we hadn't yet admitted large numbers of the 3rd world to turn our cities into war zones. It was an age of relative innocence, and one of the last decades before the country as we know it disappeared under a tide of pc, lefty vandalism.

It was great, because we were still all in it together. Don't let the usual blinkered miseries on here talk it down, because they probably weren't even there. Their loss.
