I have a Firebird 70 oil combi boiler and the balance flue keeps filling up with soot every 3-4 months. The boiler is working ok but we get black smoke when a lot of soot has built up. I clean the boiler and the flue out and it will work agin for a few months. Engineer has looked at the boiler and checked that the air and gas readings are ok - any idea

Are the baffles in the right order.
Are you sure the engineer is setting it up right, or is he guessing. Has he checked pump pressure.
