I have just bought a new washing machine every time it fills and the water is turned off there is a loud bang through the pipes what can i do to stop this...

How's your water pressure? If its very high you may need a throttle valve fitted. Most manufacturers recommend min 1 bar / max 10 bar. Before you go calling a plumber try throttling back the tap & see how that works out.
