Help please!

Just installed 2 x new taps in upstairs bathroom.

Turn on hot tap, it dribbles for a bit as you open the tap, then fires out full pressure. Try to turn it down a bit and get the really loud repetitive banging on the pipes until I either turn tap full open or off. During the banging the water is spluttering out the tap at a fairly fast rate.

I have tried all the usual tricks thinking it was an airlock to no avail, including connecting a hose up from the mains. Actually that worked for a day or so but the dreaded banging returned.

We have very high water pressure, but no problems before changing taps. On a Worcester combi boiler, no tank.

Any help very gratefully received.

sounds more like a faulty jumper inside the tap
shutting stopcock won't reduce the pressure only flow

try swapping the two tap inserts over or you may find the fault when you strip the tap down.
