just picked up new bat from supplier, it is a 12v like the previous but on the side of bat i noticed that the old one said 590A and the new says 420CCA. Is this bat suitable for a 96 fiesta diesel encore 1.8? Thanks
CCA stands for cold cranking amps.At 420 your battery is a bit low for your fiesta, but given age/mileage etc perhaps you should use a transit battery for the extra oomph. If problem persists change glow plugs.
The info I've got is that the standard battery for your car is a 540CCA one. If in doubt you should always go higher.
This industry rating measures the cranking power a battery has available to start a car's engine at 0 degrees F. Battery Council International defines it as the number of amperes a lead acid battery at 0 degrees F can deliver for 30 seconds and maintain at least 1.2 volts per cell
