I have a Baxi Bermuda Back Boiler 57/3M. It has always worked fine, but has suddenly stop lightning. Here is how it happened;

I switched the house main electricity off, in order to do some simple electricity work, not related to the heating system.

After some time, I switched the main electricity on, and all the house appliances are working fine, a part from the Boiler.

Apparantly it was working fine in the morning, but since I did the house main power on and off, the boiler's main ignition is not lighting.

I have re-set it throught pressing and twisting the grey button and pushing the spark button, and I can hear that it's now constantly on, but when the heating demand comes on or even when it's set to constant, the main 'wuuuushh' like spark is not happening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks

Can you see the pilot light, did the grey knob come right out. fuse popped.

Yes the grey knob came right out when I released it after pressing the spark button. I can hear the gas sound constantly, as before when it was working. But no wussh sound to start the main burner.

Apparently, the 57/3m model doesnt has a pilot viewing window, but it is only suppost to have a pilot viewing mirrow. Unfortunately this mirror was not installed with the one that I have, so I cant see the pilot light, but can only hear the gas sount.

Please see pg-4 on the link below, to see the pilot mirror position etc;

The front fire is however working fine, so I am assuming that the gas supply is ok.

Thanks

is this a gravity hot water/pumped central htg or a fully pumped system? its sounds like you have establiished the pilot light, but the main burner is not coming on, if you have safe working electrical skills then make sure that all the external controls are calling for a demand and check to see if you have 240v supply at the boiler thermostat if you have 240v then see if you have a 240v supply leaving the the boiler thermostat and going to to the gas valve.
if you dont have a power supply to the back boiler then its a external control fault :p

You have done the obvious and checked the programmer has not lost its on /off times with power being switched off

Yes I have reset the programmer/timer when I switched back the electricity. I have even tried on constant, the programmer is showing its usual red light when demand is on, but the burner doesnt get started.

I have checked all the thermostats, and have put them all on max, but still no luck.

I will try to do the 240v electric check but no sure if I would be able to do a full checkup.

These back boiler are a pain to get to!

It is a gravity heating system.
The pump is not working. It is a Grundfos UPS 15-50 pump.
Any idea how to get the pump working. Many Thanks

Check the fuse, it may have popped when you turn off.

Undo the big screw in the middle and tun the shaft with a small screwdriver..

Protect everything around it as some water will come out.

It should work on hot water if it's gravity, so I think you should look at the programmer and stats.

Programmer is showing its red light DIA. so fuse ok

The problem must still be electrical and common to both hot water and heating.

Needs to re-check his work in my opinion to see whats gone wrong, fuse popped being my first guess.

As the pump isn't running I doubt it is anything to do with the boiler.

Could be that by pure coincidence the programmer has had it :confused:

You need to check the live out of the programmer and then trace it from there.

But it isn't working on gravity hot water either gas4you.

Yes I know DIA, but the programmer will still be switching the HW and CH on gravity, although not seperately.

OP, have you any switched outlets alongside the BBU that have been accidentally turned off.

I've been called out many a time to a BBU not working to find these switches have been pushed off by something stood in front of them :rolleyes:

Not that I mind, easy call out money :LOL:
