I have one of the older versions of these.

Being a plunge saw it is not as good for cutting to pencil marks but it is spot on for straight cuts (using the guide rail) with an excellent finish but i would use a jigsaw for that anyway.

The new versions have the added advantages of splinter free cutting and a retractable riving knife for making cut outs.

They are the best quality on the market and possibly the safest but not designed to be thrown around in the back of a van.

The blades are also brilliant.

I have the little ryobi (£44 in B&Q) and have been using it a lot recently.

Used it on large sheets of 12mm MDF, hardwoods, doors and (though I know I shouldn't) sheet aluminium.

In short, I am amazed by the thing. It is plenty gutsy and seems pretty much indestrucatble.

The cast alloy base improves accuracy over other budget saws and the angle and depth adjustments are accurate and easy to use.
