Dear All,

I am a novice at home improvement and was hoping for some help to some simple queries - have searched through the forum and other websites and there is conflicting information.

I need to bleed the central heating pump of air:

1. Do I have to have the central heating system on or off when I unscrew the bleed valve? A few places say yes and others say no - I do not want to introduce more air into the system by doing the wrong thing.

2. After I have bled the pump - how tight should the bleed screw be tightened back into position - some places say firmly tight and others say loose.

Sorry if they are really simple queries but your help is much appreciated.

Thanks for any help,

S

Pump off and tighten the screw just enough to stop the water coming out, then give it a little tweek.
