Changed brushes when the machine stopped spinning. It went for a day or two but was now noisy like a whine plus like a lollipop stick in a bicycle wheel noise. Then it stopped spinning. I then looked at brushes and turned 1 around thinking I had not put it in correctly. With the angle on the brush the wrong way round. Now it is spinning again but still with these extra noises. Is my motor on the way out, and is it worthwhile buying a new motor or just get new machine

If the carbons are in the correct way round then the noise you describe would indicate raised segments on the armature, new motor required.
