Twenty years ago the amount of alcohol in a pint of bitter was 1.9 proof.

Today it's 5. something. Therefore if you reduce the alcohol in beers back to 'less than 2% proof' you'll reduce alcohol consumption. The same with cider. Wines and spirits should be priced according to the alcohol content.

And even further back in time the alc. content was lower - because beer was safer to drink than water . So let`s get back to Victorian Values of weak beer , high taxes and stuff the poor - Happy New Year

After reading all of this topic the following springs to mind;

First they came for the drug addicts, I didn't speak out because i didnt take drug's
Then they came for the smoker's, I didn't speak out because i ididnt smoke
Then they came for the dinkers,again i didn't speak out because I'm perfect.
Then they came for me!! and nobody spoke out because there was no one perfect left
