Can i remove this?

Hi all. Im new on here, just looking for some advice. Ive attached a photo of the ceiling corner in one of my upstairs bedrooms. Im replastering the walls and ceilings and in this room the ceiling steps down in one corner. Can i remove this to bring the ceiling all level or is it structural? Thanks in advance.

At a guess I would say it is part of the roof structure so therefor best left as is.
