Can I spur off Armoured Cable?

Just a quick ****, on the round metal conduit boxes, will the SWA gland simply screw into the conduit hole, without the need for the back nut and banjo? Or is an adaptor required?

Surely its very difficult to work with SWA cores in such a small space?

The gland will screw straight into a steel conduit box.

there is just enough space to make off upto about a 2.5mm² 3core SWA, above that you might struggle.

that is as maybe, but its of no use, since the tails will be too short (which is why we are debating about boxes)

Take the swa out of the existing light, terminate into required box,add some new swa to feed 2 lights, how hard can that be?

Depends on how and where the cable is run, and also whereabouts ont the run the OP was wanting to connect to.

Presumably the light is wired in SWA for a reason, perhaps its in a hostile environment, or comes from below ground.
