My Potterton Suprima boiler is leaking hot water. Argh!

I've turned off water supply, turned off elec, and opened up boiler cover.

Looks like a similar problem we had five years ago ... the heat exchanger had corroded away, appeared there was no inhibitor in it.

How often should inhibitor be put into the system. Should this be a standard part of the yearly service.

Have got emergency cover but they are not coming out till tomorrow. In the meantime I've got a noisy dripping boiler and I'm worried that if I go to sleep I'm going to end up with flooded kitchen.

Is anyone still awake that can offer some advice ... even if it's only how to stop the dripping!

The only way to prevent any further uncontrolled dripping is to drain the whole system, radiators and all, unless you can completely isolate all water leading to and from the boiler.

It's normally good practice to flush your system out annually and add inhibitor when you refill it, but not really done by anyone. A service contract with BG will not include this.

Says who? What a load of nonsense.

'Fools rush in' is most apt.
