I will probably install my own CCTV although I am also considering having something installed. I would like to know what accreditation the installer should have before I invite them to quote for work.

Do they need CRB checks? Governing body? Also, what insurance do they need?

Thanks

You don't need to be certified is the honest truth.

However if you use SSAIB or NSI (nacoss), then there work should be done to certain standards and issued with a certificate.

Companies accredited will have the correct insurance etc as its part of the accreditation.

That unfortunately doesn't necessarily mean it will be as good as it should be if you believe all the chatter between engineers having a pop at a well known......

If someone says they are in ssaib or nsi, check the website to check there current membership status, as some claim to be and aren't.
I guess its a bit like gas safe in that respect.
