Hello,

Just had a new kitchen done, and going to be putting in undercabinet lights. Bought the wedge ones on this page: https://www.downlights.co.uk/under-cupboard-led-lights.html

I've got Twin and Earth coming out the wall at just the right height to go into the back on them. But they are Class II lights, with no earth terminal. There is a long flex, and clearly the connection is meant to be made outside of the light fitting. I don't really have space anywhere else for the connection except within the body of the metal light fitting.

The walls behind the lights are variously stud and solid brick.

Any bright ideas? Is there a way to make this work? Is this a regular problem? (Can I just make the connections inside, and then earth the case of the light fitting, or is that a no no?)

Should I just return the lights? Anyone got suggestions for an alternative light that is suitable for making the connection inside?

There is plenty of room inside the wedge for connectors.

However, as you note, if you consider it is a possibility that a live wire may come into contact with the wedge then it may be better to earth it.
