I have never used the 'ignore' facility and I probably never will. I find it unnecessary. By skipping through Joe's incessant blatherings, but reading others' replies, it is perfectly easy to see where the thread is going and to decide whether to reply to any posts.

The bigger problem, IMHO, is people who either don't recognise him for what he is or feed him...
