We have been living in this house for over 10 years and never had any issues with damp or condensation. This mark has just appeared from yesterday. Could this be Damp or Condensation? It can just be a spillage on the paper, as we have a young baby.

We have tried wiping it, but it's not cleaning. There are no signs of damp under or above this area. How can you tell, if this is condensation?

It looks like something has been spilt but I can't tell which way is up in your photos.

What is above the mark?

What is the surface made of?

Is this an outside wall or what? What is on the other side of the wall?

Thanks for the response.

A Dado rail is above the mark.

The surface is plaster board. The bit with the mark is on the side of the bay window. There is a hollow area behind the plaster board and then there is the main outside brick wall.

probably spillage.

if it won't wipe off, scrape a bit off, drop it in vinegar, see if it fizzes (limescale, suggests slight water leak)

It's not normal condensation as it localised to a single spot.

might possibly be leaking around or over the window frame and dripping behind the plasterboard. Watch it on a rainy day.

is that a cupboard door? any waterpipes inside?

Expecting rain tomorrow, so will keep an eye out.

Yeah that's cupboard door but no water pipes here. only Gas and electric meter.
