I don't know what the total cost of Covid and Covid prevention measures will be. But so far over 1M people died from it and probably at least 1/3rd died who would not have otherwise died. If a chemical plant released a toxic cloud that killed 300,000 people., we'd expect there to be lawsuits and compensation. BP for example were nearly bankrupted with fines and compensation claims when they had an environmental leak.

According to the US - it's pretty clear that Covid was a lab leak and not a natural occurrence. As one of the most seriously affected countries [from covid] they may have a compensation agenda. But it does ask the question. Should china pay for the damage?

China has massively benefited from Covid, when compared to other countries from an economical point of view.

Just like it is clear the world is flat and aliens exist.

The human race is to blame - we continue to move into new territories and rip apart ecosystems, releasing viruses that have lain dormant for millennia. We've done it before, and it will happen again.

Yes, but sadly there are still people who deny the damage we are causing, despite the evidence. Time is running out but we could be beyond the point of no return.

What SHOULD and what WILL happen are two very different things.

I think I'm right in saying that the Wuhan lab was actually working under contract for the US government, paid for and directed by them, instructed to try and make the virus more contagious. So, as ever, the world doesn't neatly divide into goodies and baddies.

If the yanks were part of the problem then we can be absolutely sure that the truth won't come out.

It was a form of the flu...

Get over it...

Big Pharma sure enjoyed the ride though ;)
I think you mean "Big Pharma".

Or is there a united global organisation that is "Big Pharma"?

If it was the UK, we'd be handing out apology cash left and centre

I can prove the earth isn't flat and that aliens probably exist. if they don't then its likely that we don't either.

The question here is IF this is proven to be a Lab leak, due to negligence then why is nobody talking about compensation.

Labs work on all sorts of nasty stuff, we expect protocols to exist to protect the public. Proton Down seem to manage working without killing 100s of thousands of people.

Indeed, staffed & managed by folk who are fully aware & know what they're doing.

Which leads us to the question of whether it was an accidental leak . . . . Or deliberate?

' Although you might see people from time to time, they are most likely products of your imagination. Simple mathematics tells us that the population of the Universe must be zero. Why? Well given that the volume of the universe is infinite there must be an infinite number of worlds. But not all of them are populated; therefore only a finite number are. Any finite number divided by infinity is as close to zero as makes no odds, therefore we can round the average population of the Universe to zero, and so the total population must be zero.'

Theory falls over on one point. In an infinite universe the number of populated planets will also be infinite.

I suspect the yanks were contracting it out to China because they didn't want it done at home, or it possibly wouldn't have been allowed under their rules. But they overlooked the fact that we all share a planet and people move around.

If you phone someone who takes away your rubbish for a low price and you don't check that they have all the right licences then you're still responsible when he fly-tips it somewhere. The same logic applies to the US contracting out their dangerous research.
