After installing a mini (RCD & 2 MCBs) CU in my garage I tested the screws, with my neon tester, which are on the outside of the case and they are showing live when touched with my neon tester. Obviously this is very dangerous and I have turned off the circuit till fixed.

What could this be the CU is fed via a 13A FSU?

Does this mean the installation is not earthed correctly?

A sparlk is going to be called to fix this one but wanted to know people thoughts on this one.

Thanks

have you checked the polarity on the feed to your CU in the garage and at the Main CU for that matter?

Neon screwdrivers will light up if you fart on them

I would do as you've suggested and leave it all off until a registered spark has checked it.

Did you know this work was notifiable to your LABC under Part P of the Building Regulations

thanks for the reply, yes I am aware of part P. Theneondoes light very dim but nevertheless does light. This can't be right.

Neon screwdrivers very seldom are right. Best place is in the bin
