Hi all,

First time posting. I need some help.

The current problems with my combi boiler are: water leaking from it, loss of pressure, timer has gone. I am basing this on what the plumber told me.

He recommended replacing the boiler, and gave me a quote for a Glow worm boiler (never said which) and installation with 5yr warranty £1500.

I have two main questions:

1) Does my Worcester 280 definitely need replacing?
Based on the above, can you give a list of things that it could be or things to check first?

2) If I do have to replace, what boiler recommendations would you give?

Thanks a lot.

Good point, however I primarily meant are there things I should check/do first before concluding a new one is needed.

Can you see where the leak is from?

Do you really want one of the cheapest boilers?

Anything could be leaking but most probably repairable.

£1500 is a good price in my opinion.

Your 280 is approx 15+ years old, you'd be lucky to get 6+ from most of the new HE boilers.
Like Agile said find the leak, the time clock is no big deal, loss of pressure could be the leak in the boiler or external?

You could always see if your eligible for a Eco or Green deal grant
