Double damp proof course

To solve a dispute....

I am sure I have seen older houses with 2 slate damp proof courses, about 3 brick courses apart. Specifically, Lancashire 1920's built, although I think I have also seen it in the London area, pre 1914 build.

Does this sound familiar or am I dreaming about dpc's? In which case I need to get out more...
