Hi.

I'm looking to have my builder replace the current front door on my property which is old and badly fitting (depending on the season as it clearly feels the affect of the weather!).

I live in an area which rules out a composite door so I'm looking for an engineered door (possibly traditional 6 panel oak design) which I understand is less likely to warp than a solid wood door.

My builder has highlighted the problem with cheap engineered doors warping as I think he has had a problem on prior jobs. I have to say I'm a bit stuck in determining what is and what isn't a good quality engineered door. Most of the sheds sell something for around £200, but he reckons this will be low quality. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to have any specific suggestions or examples of what isn't.

As such, I'd be grateful for any suggestions of where's best to look. Most internet searches either return the sheds or a number of other sites, but they're mostly all around the same price point and its practically impossible to differentiate.

Thanks

My understanding as per initial post is that a solid wood door is more prone to warping than a well made engineered one. Also generally multiples of the price so I'm trying to find some sort of middle ground.

That I don't know and is what I'm trying to find out...
