Entire police unit resigns 'in disgust' because two officers were suspended for pushing elderly man

He didn't even really raise his arms at the police and we don't know what was said. And then the policeman who shoved him just let him lay there with blood coming out of his ears.
This isn't being being frightened or apprehensive of what may happen. This is police not knowing how to police. Contrary to believe, the police are there to keep the law, peace and protect their citizens. The only aggression I see here was entirely done by the police, police who by the way, said initially he tripped and fell until video emerged.... Let's not forget this man is elderly - what was he, 75? How frightening he must've been to all those cops....

Come on, stop victim blaming.
Look at it this way, if you leave your car unlocked with the keys in the ignition and some one steals your car, who is to blame?

The thief who stole your car is guilty but you would also be culpable because you created a situation for the crime to occur.

This old guy is also culpable because he created a situation where he could become a victim.
He wasn't forced to obstruct the police in the execution of their duty.

Lol, sorry, that's a funny choice of words you've used.

Who'd have thought this man put himself in the position to be a 'victim' as you say, a victim of the police. The very police who aren't supposed to cause harm, who are supposed to uphold the law and protect its citizens, not thump some old geezer who was carrying his mobile phone and by the video, not being threatening at all...

Obviously the courts in America agree - they've charged the officers, despite them lying about what happened.. Thankfully not everyone victim blames. (y)

Yes i agree that the old ejit was a victim of a case of overzealous policing.
However the old guy deliberately created the circumstances for this to happen.
If the policemen involved are charged with assault, don't you agree that it is only fair to charge the old guy with obstruction.

how?

First Amendment
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

Victim blaming.

Correct. Old duffer should have known better than bate/obstruct/whatever the police. He's mostly responsible for his own predicament. It's not the cops fault he forgot his Zimmer that day. It's sad that he cracked his nut, but what did he expect?

No point having a police 'force' if they don't control miscreants. It was only a shove after all. As already said, not as if they bludgeoned him with their batons.

Your emotions are getting in the way of the hard realites out there for police handling large numbers of potentially violent protestors.

Absolutely vile behaviour. Not only was the officer dealing in drugs but assaulted a man in a hospital bed.

Dealing drugs is vile behaviour, the cop rightly got a long sentence.

As for him slapping the hospital patient, I couldn't care less. In the old days you heard stories of villains "falling down the police station steps", police beatings etc, but that kept the lid on crime more effectively than modern police methods. The Police And Criminal Evidence act (PACE), greatly restricted what the police could and couldn't do, and was created as an answer to so-called police brutality. I fear that what's happening now could create further such restrictions on the police.

that kept the lid on crime

you think that committing crime reduces crime?

wrong.

The murderers of 21 people in Birmingham escaped justice because the police beat confessions out of six other men.

The old guy wasn't knocked over because he was exercising his right to free speech.
He was knocked over because he obstructed a police operation.

As he was over 70 years old, shouldn't he have been at home with a mask on.
I notice he didnt social distance when he confronted the police BTW.

What about the Krays?
When they ruled east London everyone was safe.
And you didn't need to wear a stab vest back in their day.
What ever happened?
OOh yeah....the lefties stuck their oar in.
You're funny. Deluded, but funny.
