hi guys,

i live in a mid terrace and have a kitchen and utility room extending from the back approx 7.5m x 2.1m.

my plan is to simply remove the utility section to make the kitchen 4m long only. then extend sideways to then make it 4.3m wide. nice and square.

would it be poss to simply add the new section on without demolishing the whole kitchen. ive been told by different people better to remove whole kitchen but others say it would be unnecessary.

Can't say without looking at your proposed design and the existing layout.

Things to consider are suitability of existing foundations, any new drainage, existing masonry in particular brick courses, wall thickness in respect to latest reg's etc.

All of the above can influence whether it is more economical/practical to demolish or not.

the foundations for the existing kitchen have been set about 3' deep and the existing kitchen is only a single story with a sloped roof to the side.

i intend to have the roof sloping away from the house so i can have a skylight put in.

the drainage will be the same to be honest as the as the sink etc will remain where they are and become an island instead.

the wall that should stay is 9" thick and brick so should be ok. ill try and get some pics up.
