Hi all,
I am currently refurbish a bathroom and have hit a snag. Whilst drilling the hike for extractor fan I have come across rebar is it safe to cut a small section of this rebar so the fan fits the hole or am I best filling the hole and moving away from the area hoping that I then clear my rebar.

Thanks. But damage to the bit isn't my concern as I have plenty of clearance to get an angle grinder in there my concern is structural stability.

Youu don't want to damage the rebar though, its providing all the strengh to the concrete! Is this a beam/lintel, or the wall?

Its the wall just above and of to the side of a window opening

You'll be OK for just a 100mm or hole.

Fans are normally best sited 1800 up from the floor (below window head height) and 300 in from a corner.

Edit: added below window head height.
