You don't need us to remind you not to buy gloss black fascia do you? Make sure it's foiled.
Hi Mw Roofline,
Thanks. What do you mean foiled?

Oh and btw, have you got a van? Come to Birmingham and pick up the materials and my supplier will beat that cheaper price. Email me their quote and I'll fax it to my supplier.
That's odd your experience with the paint. Not meaning to teach granny to suck eggs but you did give it a really good stir?- the tins may have been sat on the shelf for a long time & paints do separate out especially traditional ones (the stuff with all the bad chemicals in that gives a really good finish). Or were you painting on a rare red hot day?

Hi OldButNotDead
Yes really good stir. Wierd paint. Only opened one can so far. May be I should get the other open and see if the same. Prob same batch. Wander if a bad batch. Stuff really thin.
I will phone the supplier and see what they say.
Since tuesday, the time factor sequence of this thread is a bit puzzling - are you right now painting the woodwork or what?
When did the runny paint run?
AAMOI: i wouldn't replace any plastic unless its absolutely brittle and necessary.
Rubber seals can be replaced - keep the fitting and replace the seals.

That's not the full quote, and it's for white, didn't you want black? Where are the prices for all the corners, joiners, J trim, soffit trim, nails, screws and guttering? What are the three prices for on the right? Cheers
Thanks for the explanation. I still dont get it in terms of your posts but ... whatever.
AAMOI: you most probably have quite a bit of cutting out and replacement - eg. see the barge board tail - before you could overclad or even do a decent paint job.
Dont leave even a trace of fungal damage/rot in the fascia/woodwork or it will come back to bite you.
Whether its your most cost effective long term solution, i dont know.
Houses esp. houses in exposed seaside positions, are like living things - they are constantly moving and changing. No remedial repairs will be permanent - perhaps long term but not permanent.
