I've recently bought five plaster uplighters (Screwfix cat. no. D11480) for my new dining room extension. I expected the lampholders in them to be pre-wired, but they're not. The lights come with a loose lampholder and a short length of heatproof sleeving only. The wiring connections to the lampholder are push-fit.
Question: Can I use the existing 1mm lighting cable straight to the lampholder (in the sleeving, but of course would be black and red), or must I use a regular multi-strand flex (blue/brown) from the lampholder to a connector block on the 1mm?
Question 2: Regardless of the answer to Q1, the access hole in the back of the uplighter (30mm square) has to go over the exit point of the 1mm in the wall - I can't put heatproof sleeving over the sheathed 1mm, so won't the heat from a 40w bulb cause problems through this access hole anyway? Should I look for another fitting!?
