Depend what do you want to use it for ? If it for a room then I need more details..........
If it for storage space then I would put 2"x1" sawn across the opposite direction of the 4"x2" ceiling joists to pick up your T&G chipboard flooring,this is so you don't have to cut a slots out for the wiring or water pipe and also making cross air flow underneath.
