Hi
I am currently repointing the gable end wall of my bungalow. The wall has a pitched roof front and rear and a chimney centrally. I noticed the upper wall that follows the roof pitch to the rear of the chimney has a slight lean outward. I have checked the wall in the attic and the wall is plumb. I am thinking the ties have possibly gone in that area.
Would it be possible to place timbers inside and out with lengths of threaded bar going through the two skins of brickwork and the timber in that area to gently pull the outer skin back to plumb, then retie it and repoint it?
Cheers
Andy

The area in red is where the lean is, the rest of the wall is fine.

You may gain some benefit from carefully placed helical bars, but I doubt you'll do any pulling in. Most likely a wee bit of thermal push from the roof material. I'd be more inclined to make sure the gable is adequately tied to the roof structure.
