I have a security light on the back of my new house, I think it's a halogen. Is it safe to run this from a spur off the kitchens ring main? Will it need it's own fuse?

Hello Fat Fingers,
I've just taken a fused Spur from a double socket to run a 150w spot on the rear of my house.
Remember to change the 13amp fuse in the spur to a 5amp.

Why, specifically, depending on what cable was run, would you need to do this? And if for reasons of safety, why not 3 amp? Or 1 amp!!
